UPDATES
1. We are happy to report that a container of wheel chairs, walking sticks, printing paper, DVDs and general school supplies, was shipped to Leonora in October of 2007.
Further Update: December 9th, 2007: The above container has arrived in Guyana.
2. We are presently working on a project to re-paint the Leonora Government School. This project will go ahead as soon as a few minor details are worked out with the Head Master - Mr. Gurdat Persaud. Further Update: December 9th, 2007: Project has been approved. Painting will be done in April 2008.
3. Another project to run pipelines and water supply to the school's cricket pitch will be financed by the LCS and be administered by Tonka. Further Update: December 9th, 2007: Funds have been dispatched to Tonka, he is scheduled to complete the project in Leonora within the next 6 weeks. Update March 26, 2008 - Tonka has been delayed in going to Guyana. This project may be scheduled for later - or canceled altogether.
4. The Leonora Cultural Society is a non-profit organization run by a collective group of volunteers. If anyone wishes to join us, he/she is free to do so and can contact us via email.
